Solo Exhibition by John N. Inglis
Oct. 19th – Nov. 11th 2017

Yellow House is honoured to present a retrospective of the distinguished Canadian water colour artist John N. Inglis. This selection of paintings spans over 60 years of enquiry and development, and has resulted in an evocative and recognizably distinct visual language.  Vibrant landscapes play host to the archetypal traveller. With an inspired approach to his medium,  Inglis envelops us into his spiritual and psychological quest. A member of the arts and letters club and a recipient of the AJ Casson award for distinguished service in the academic arts, Inglis puts together a masterful body of work. This show is not to be missed!

Carmela Casuccio Solo Exhibition “Seen From Within: Entering the City” [Sept 15 – Oct 14, 2017]

Seen From Within: Entering the City

Solo Exhibition by Carmela Casuccio

Sept 15th – October 14 2017

Opening reception: Friday September 15th from 6:30-9pm

Known for the abstract cityscapes of her reflections series, Carmela Casuccio has taken an exciting turn in a new body of work débuting at Yellow House Gallery on September 15th, 2017. Moving into the imagined city, this new work explores the spaces that could only be glimpsed from a distance in the past. Referencing deconstructed architecture, it is as if the viewer can see the scene from many angles at once. Her paintings capture the layers we cannot see, the stories beneath the cityscape.

Every year we are honoured to partner with Notre Dame High School to bring you this unique and refreshing exhibit!

Spearheaded by Notre Dame’s Art Department Head Sandra Slosel, this exhibition is the culminating work of the students for their grade 12 Visual Arts course.

Students were challenged to identify topics and issues that were of personal interest and generate a series of pieces that communicates their personal position on the subject.  Most of the work will be acrylic paintings on canvas dealing with a wide range of topics from personal mental health issues to more global social justice concerns.

Titled “Ab Intra” meaning from within, the name for the exhibit was chosen by the students to reflect the source of inspiration for their work.

Visual artist, Set & Props Artist and Designer. Abstract expressionism, pop art, art nouveau, psychedelia, silent film actresses, burlesque, bathing beauties, and vintage advertisements all factor into her work. Hawkins lives and works in Toronto
A collaborative series between Melissa Espina and Digital Film Editor Pietro Gallo. Started in 2014, the artists explore the idea of nostalgia and memory by highlighting the day to day moments that may otherwise be unnoticed.

Stephenson completed her BFA at the Ontario College of Art and Design, where she majored in Drawing and Painting. In 2009 she was the recipient of the Mrs. W.O. Forsyth Award for Excellence in Painting, recognizing female artists whose major means of expression has been painting. In the Spring of 2011 she launched My Mother’s Basement Gallery, a website which focuses on giving exposure to emerging artists. Stephenson has shown both in Toronto and Internationally, and currently lives and works in Toronto, Ontario.

A multi-media artist working, exhibiting and conducting workshops in acrylic, encaustic, watercolour and sculptural media. Wallace had a successful mural and specialty paint finish company in Toronto for over 25 years. Her extensive commissions include work for television, film, theatre, restaurants, businesses and private collections across Canada and internationally. Her paintings reflect the “trompe l’oeil” influence mastered through years of mural painting. Victoria infuses luminance within her subjects, which range from high realism to abstraction.
